Parents and Students,
Thank you for a fantastic February! We are fast approaching spring break and the last grading period of this school year. We are grateful to you for sharing your children with us. We love watching them grow, learn, and become leaders. A special thank you to our PTA Members, Volunteers, and Staff for making this past Saturday a great success, Run for the Heights. Although the weather attempted to put a damper on things, we still had a grand turn out and a healthy run. Thank you for everyone that supported our school and to all those that put in even a minute of your time. Mrs. Bissen and Mrs. Harris, JOB WELL DONE! Safety Request- Please do not drop your children off in the middle of the parking lot and expect them to get to the crosswalk alone. This creates a safety concern for our students because cars are parking and backing out. We ask that you walk them to the crosswalk in the front of the school and safety patrol as well as staff can ensure they cross safely and in the back of the school, we ask that you walk them safely across while our crossing guard directs the traffic to stop. We do not want anyone involved in an accident. Please think of our students! A diagram is attached to show the various safety expectations for drop off. Thank you in advance! Upcoming Events March 9th- 13th: Spring Break/ No School March 17th & 18th: PTA Presents Eat for a Cause at Chili’s March 19th: Heroes for Health (More info coming, City side wellness event) April 7th: Kinder Round-Up (More info coming); Let your friends and neighbors know if they will have a Kindergartener starting next year. Clarification-
Parents, Students will only be asked to enter their student codes at breakfast and IF they go back for a second item during lunch. It will not be required for lunch time for single trays (again, only if students go back to get something extra). I just realized this today and wanted to communicate ASAP. The codes are the student ID numbers, and many students already know this code in order to access Istation and/or other computer programs. They use it to log on to the computer. Thank you for helping support our students through this change! Tara Bailey Parents and Students,
Don’t forget no school on Monday, Feb. 16th. This will be a professional development and work day for NEISD Staff. We will be using our time to review student data and plan for upcoming instruction! Please look closely to the calendar, because we have added benchmark testing dates in red. WE will keep the campus closed until about 10:40a.m.,when the first lunches start. If we have WatchDOGS signed up to volunteer, they will be allowed to work in other grade levels until after testing. We do not “close” the campus in an attempt to cause inconvenience, but in order to give our students a quiet environment in which to test. This coming week, our students will be using a keypad when they come through the cafeteria line. They will be required to enter their lunch codes. This will slow our lines down somewhat and we appreciate your patience. Ask your child if they know their lunch code. If they do not have it memorized, now would be a great time to start practicing. THE Cafeteria Ladies plan to work alongside of our students until this is an efficient and effective process. In keeping the cafeteria update, I would like to share that we have started talking more about recycling and our recyclable bags went from 2-3 bags a day to 14-16 bags a day. Thank you to our students for being conscious about the world in which we live. I am very proud of them! On a safety note, thank you for working hard to keep our students and staff safe. I am sending a message to follow up on my earlier message regarding Valentine's Day and to clarify my morning announcement communication. I feel certain that we have confusion. Since Valentine's Day has not been selected as a party day for us this year, we are not allowed to have food for our students to eat in celebration. If you have purchased cards that have candy attached, please know that these cards will be sent home along with all other Valentines exchanged this Friday. In the future as we are planning for Valentine's Day, we can certainly look for items that are non-food related. However, I do not wish to disappoint any students nor make this a disruption to our learning environment. We will follow NEISD policy and not partake of any a food celebration. My apologies for the miscommunication as well as the confusion I caused for my staff. Thank you, Tara Bailey Dear Parents,
As Valentine's Day draws near, we would like to send out a few important reminders. In accordance with district policy, we are only allowed to have two party days per year. Tuscany Heights' party days for this year were decided at the beginning of the year, Winter Holiday Party and an End of the Year Party. By policy, we cannot allow students and/or parents to bring in treats, such as cookies, candy, cake, etc. for Valentine's day since it was not previously selected as one of our party days. Please know that the office will not be able to deliver balloons or flowers to classrooms. This Friday will be a normal instructional day with time for students to exchange Valentine Cards with their classmates. Thank you for your support. We are also recognizing Rodeo Day across the district. Please join us in dressing Western on Friday, Feb. 13th. Thank you, Tara Bailey Parents and Students,
I hope it has been a great weekend for all of you. We look forward to seeing the students back at school tomorrow. I wanted to share this link shared by one of our parents! It is nice to see the hard work of our THE students and staff recognized. So proud of them! http://www.texasschoolaccountabilitydashboard.org/ Scroll down for a message from Vineyard Ranch Elementary regarding enrollment of Dual Language Students. (Below, next to upcoming events.) Thank you for helping us secure student safety here at Tuscany Heights Elementary! We have a few recent concerns at the front traffic light and want to bring to your attention that Bexar County has reached out to a consulting company to investigate the intersection for support. We may start seeing new signs and possibly a new traffic light. In the meantime, please avoid using the Tuscany Heights Neighborhood Sign as a U-turn area. Also, our crossing guards are trained by North East Police Department on traffic safety. Please be aware of their signs, lights, and whistles even if the light changes. They are following the safety protocols taught in their workshops. We are doing everything we can to enforce SAFETY at THE. We appreciate your support as well! This fitness activity will be broadcast throughout the school and all of our students will have the opportunity to join in the JAM workout.
